Meet Our Staff

Founder, Joseph Spada, is a Certified Geriatric Care Provider and geriatric nurse with 30 years of background and expertise in long-term care. We call him the "Chief Happiness Officer." Born in Sicily and raised in Switzerland, Joseph studied geriatric care in one of the wold’s best settings – the University Hospital in Geneva, Switzerland. He served in geriatrics, orthopedics, rehabilitation and emergency room care.

Joseph is the author of an Amazon Best Seller called, “How To Find The Best Adult Family Home Care For Your Elderly Parent”. It is the only book educating consumers on Adult Family Homes. Joseph explains what care options are available with an emphasis on adult family homes, guiding readers on their journey to find quality care.

Joseph is a faculty instructor at North Seattle College where he teaches the State-required "AFH Administrator Training Certification."

His expertise and guidance has helped hundred's of seniors and their families make informed decisions with all matters relating to senior care.

Laura Rumpf is a Registered Horticultural Therapist. In addition to her current work with people living in adult family homes, she has been co-facilitating the Garden Discovery Walks with the Seattle Parks & Rec's Dementia-Friendly program in partnership with the U of WA Center for Brain & Memory Wellness.

Laura has also worked with youth and adults with disabilities in the US and abroad. She recently served as interim Horticultural Therapy Program Director at Melwood Horticulture Training Center in Maryland, a day program for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Laura is an avid gardener and is passionate about connecting each individual to the wonders of the natural world and to each other

Gale Wald, a long-time Registered Nurse, has experienced a long career at Northwest Hospital in Seattle. She now works has an independent nurse consultant.

Gale does most of our resident assessments, provides nurse delegation to our staff, and covers for other nursing care needs as necessary. Gale adds to Spada Homes' overall level of quality care by providing professional nursing services and consulting.

Angela is a Nursing Assistant Registered (NA-R) and joined us at Alicia Park (3621 NE 100th St.) in 2015.

She is caring, attentive and we are thrilled to have her on the team!

In addition to her basic First Aid, CPR, and food handler's permit, Angela also completed Mental Health and Dementia specialty training, nursing delegation and diabetes specialization.

Yvonne is our full time volunteer and she OWNS the kitchen!

After caring for children in a Paris child care center, she discovered her love of caring for seniors at Spada Care Homes in Seattle. Yvonne is a bright light in our home and loved by everyone .

We are privileged to have Yvonne as a perfect complement to our team.

Camelia is a rare gem in the caregiving world; experienced, skilled, dedicated and kind. Her communication skills are excellent, as is her ability to spot potential health issues early on.

Moreover, Camelia is an outstanding cook, especially when it comes to preparing healthy, tasty and hardy European meals.

Camelia worked for us many years ago, and we are blessed to have her back after her return from Texas.

Betty is a Home Care Aide Certified caregiver (equivalent to Certified Nursing Assistant).

She has worked for Spada Homes since early 2017 and provides a great amount of stability and care to our residents. She is very kind, caring, trustworthy and reliable.

Besides the qualifications mentioned above, Betty completed her Dementia specialty training, and all other required certification, and then some!

We consider Betty a great asset to Spada Homes and one of our key staff.

Sara is a Certified Nursing Assistant and a great addition to our Wedgwood Adult Family Home - we are thrilled to have her! She is gentle, patient, attentive to resident's needs, and loves working with the elderly.

Sara Lou is a Nursing Assistant Certified and an outstanding addition to our Wedgwood Adult Family Home!

She is efficient, kind, and deeply attentive to each resident's needs. If you met Sara, her strong and genuine passion for her work with the elderly is quickly evident. She is constantly coming up with a plethora of fresh activities, games, and engaging live music performances with our residents.

She is such a multi-talented caregiver; besides her strong ability to spot issues quickly, she also sings, plays guitar, piano and a great Karaoke singer!
